    Learning objectives
    Students will get acquainted with a selected current issue in tourism.
    Assessment criteria
    Assessment criteria - grade 1
    In case of 1–5 grading:

    Fail: Performance is highly deficient or erroneous. The work may be based on serious misunderstandings.

    Sufficient and satisfactory (1-2): Performance is lacking in scope, superficial, or corresponds poorly to the assignment. The author merely lists things out of context or addresses them one-sidedly. The work may contain errors or obscurities.
    Assessment criteria - grade 3
    In case of 1–5 grading:

    Good and very good (3-4): Performance corresponds to the assignment, manifesting comprehension and a skill to analyse and justify. The author has addressed the issue comprehensively. The work may contain some deficiencies.
    Assessment criteria - grade 5
    In case of 1–5 grading:

    Excellent (5): Performance delineates an extensive whole and the author can apply knowledge in a multifaceted way or place it in various contexts. The work manifests independency and insight, and it is a flawless entity that involves justified thinking or critical contemplation. The work is well written and implemented.

    5 ECTS are compulsory for the TourCIM master's degree students.

    Aim:
    • to raise students’ view on the importance of adapting supply and demand side of the tourism to the changes in the business environment;
    • to ignite thinking about different needs and technological skills of various tourism segments and cohorts;
    • to design innovative tourism solutions/combinations for new era tourism services/experiences.

    Content:
    • Evolution of tourism environment in 21st Century
    • Key technology enablers of modern tourism and hospitality business: from high-speed internet to artificial intelligence
    • Balance between high-touch and high-tech in the new era hotels: traditional hospitable services vs “do-it-yourself” services
    • Coping with digital gap between different tourism cohorts (baby-boomers vs millennials) or “no place for old men”?

    Methods: Lectures, discussions, group work, problem solving

    Requirements: Pre-reading, active participation to classes and discussions there, mini project based on pre-readings and its presentation
